| Human Zoo ©2009 Scott Beckwith / Parking Lot Music BMI Some days I'm ignorant Sleep for ten hours Don't use the powers of connection Sink in my fear Don't feel so clear in my direction Lord help me find my way to you When I get lost in this human zoo Some days enslaved by passion I rant and I crave And lust comes in waves through my perception For a moment of bliss So ready to make this one exception Lord help me know what not to do So easily lost in this human zoo Some days the consciousness Blossoms like seeds Vibration and beads and I'm a temple To serve and to please It's not always easy but it's simple Lord help me on this road to you Don't want to be stuck in this human zoo |
Shelter Me ©2009 Scott Beckwith / Parking Lot Music BMI Where we don't learn from we go back again It's human nature to do ourselves in A race with time we never will win For now the world continues to spin Shelter Me Deep within and deep without Driven to distraction and scattered about Like a page from a chapter turned over again Torn from the book and adrift in the wind Shelter me Youth is wasted and beauty is fleeting Your dreams and desires they sure take a beating Fill the empty 'til you get your fill If the miles don't get you then the minutes will Shelter me |
| Time ©2009 Scott Beckwith / Parking Lot Music BMI Time will come With changes for us all Shadowing the days we have planned Waves will crash And winds shall blow a new day All across our footsteps in the sand Time Living to consume This life to embers After all the fires have been fanned If time and shifting sand Is all I'll ever be I'll pick up and place it in your hand Time |
Give me love ©2009 Scott Beckwith / Parking Lot Music BMI Give me love it’s all I want Give me love it’s all I’ll ever need to know I want to love God but not have to hate Want to love tomorrow but don’t want to wait I want to love you so don’t hesitate To love me too ’Cause I love you I want to love life but not fear its end Want to love my path not have to pretend Yours may be different but I’ll still be your friend Soul is soul And worth more than gold If these are the last words I ever sing We never know what the next step will bring Let me leave you all with this one thing Live love And love will live |
| Down To This ©2009 Scott Beckwith / Parking Lot Music BMI Don't be surprised By the constant surprises That's what happens when you have no eye On what's coming Fantastic Like a bird in flight With wings of wax the truth has no talons Feel the warming (Chorus) Everything you thought you knew 'Bout everything you thought was true In everything you're taught to do And it all comes down to this |
Misc. tidbits... "Meat Of The Moment" is one of my favorite tracks. It started as a word play on a song that was popular in the '80s, developing into a set of lyrics talking of being so "I am this body" that sometimes it rules me in the moment. To me, I try to operate from a higher consciousness than the animal part of me. It's not easy; this world is that world, you know? But I really try not to let my body tell me what my heart's about; I try to keep them separate and tune in to That Higher which will broadcast through if I can get the interference out of the way. When I wrote the music for the song, I put a bar of that old pop song in there (protected under "parody", by the way ~ no copyright infringement intended, and my intent is obvious) and it all fell into place. "It was the meat of the moment telling me what my heart's about / so glad it can pick you up while I learn to tune it all out." |
